Common questions

Why is my minimum gas so much larger than 50 bar?

Because it is computed for your depth and your cylinder rather than being a fixed number. Two divers sharing one supply from 30 m need a fixed volume of gas, and a small cylinder turns that volume into a much larger fraction of its pressure. The same ascent that needs 84 bar from a 15-litre needs 113 from an aluminium 80. That gap is what the app was built to show.

Your bottom-time limit doesn't match my computer.

It probably will once you match the conservatism. Settings › How the bottom-time limit is worked out offers the standard gradient-factor pairs — 30/70 through 100/100 — and the app defaults to 40/85. Set it to whatever your computer is running.

Two differences will remain even then. The app plans a square profile to your maximum depth, while your computer follows the dive you actually did, so its number will usually be more generous. And the app assumes a repeat dive followed a full dive to the same depth on the same gas, because it has no way to know what you really did. Both differences run in the same direction: the app is the more cautious of the two.

How does it know what I breathe?

Only what you tell it. Pick a tier if you have never measured it, enter one real dive's numbers and let it work the rate out, or type a figure you already know. Everything you enter stays in a dated list, the newest is used, and you can pin an older one or delete any of them.

Does it work without a signal?

Always. The app has no network access at all, so a boat with no reception changes nothing.

Will it tell me a dive is safe?

No, and it never will. It does gas arithmetic and a bottom-time limit before you get in. Your training comes first, and in the water you go by your pressure gauge and your computer.
