Surface Interval — underwater video colour and dive reels
Last updated: 27 September 2026
Surface Interval is an app for iPhone, and for Mac as Surface Interval Desktop, made by Rustam Ismailov. The license for the app itself is Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. This page adds the app's daily cap and the license, in three tiers, that extends it. It is written to be read, not to be long.
What the app does
You add a dive's videos from Photos, or from files on a card, a drive or a folder. The app puts back the colour the water took, finds the moments worth keeping, trims them, keeps them in the order they were shot, dissolves between them, lays a music track underneath and saves the reel to Photos. It all runs on your iPhone or Mac. There is no account and nothing is uploaded.
Free, with a daily cap
The app is free, with a daily cap of two reels, and each of those reels carries a small watermark in the corner. Everything else in the app works the same with or without a license.
Beyond the cap: a license in three tiers
Making more than two reels a day requires a license. The license also unlocks the watermark switch in Settings, so you can turn the mark off; it stays on until you do. There are three tiers, all bought through Apple: Week and Year, which are subscriptions, and Lifetime, paid once. The prices and periods are shown in the app, in your currency, before you buy.
On a new iPhone or Mac, or after reinstalling, a license usually comes back by itself; if it does not, use Restore Purchases, reached from the app's Settings. No tier is shared through Family Sharing.
Week and Year
Week and Year are subscriptions. Each is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm it and renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your Apple Account settings under Subscriptions; to avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Buying Lifetime does not cancel a subscription by itself. When a subscription ends, the app goes back to the daily cap of two reels, with the watermark on. Nothing you made is touched.
Apple handles the billing, and refunds are Apple's to give: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Lifetime
Lifetime is a one-time payment tied to your Apple Account. It does not expire.
Your videos and your reels
Your videos stay yours and stay where they are: the app reads them in place and never copies or uploads them. The reels you make are yours to keep and to post.
Music
The tracks in the app come from Pixabay under its Content License. You may post a reel with the track under your own footage anywhere you like. The license does not allow the track to be taken out of the reel and used on its own.
