Common questions

My runtime is longer than my computer's, and my first stop is deeper.

Two deliberate differences, and both are in Settings.

The app ascends the last six metres at 1 m/min, which most planners do not — they leave that leg at 9 or 10 m/min. On a 45 m dive that is about five minutes of runtime on its own. It is the most productive off-gassing of the whole dive and it comes from the training materials the app implements.

The default gradient factors are 20/85. A GF low of 20 puts the first stop deeper than a computer running 30/85 or 40/85. Set them to whatever yours runs and the schedules converge.

What does "bottom time" mean here?

Minutes from leaving the surface to leaving the bottom — the descent is inside it. A 45 m dive with a 25-minute bottom time is about five minutes down and twenty at depth. This is what DecoPlanner means by it too, and it is why the same "25 min" can be two different dives in two planners.

Why does one minute at a stop show no hold?

Because that minute is the ascent to the next level. A minute for each three metres is the 3 m/min rate — keep moving rather than hovering and hopping. Levels that also need holding say how long to hold, then that the last minute is the step up.

Why only one decompression gas?

It is a stated limit of this release, not an oversight. The app plans one deco bottle — EAN50 or oxygen. If your plan calls for two, this is not your planner yet.

Can it plan a second dive on the same day?

Not yet. Every plan is treated as a first dive on a clean tissue load. Repetitive diving is not implemented, and the app does not pretend otherwise.

Why does it refuse instead of warning me?

Because a number with a caution attached is still a number, and people use it. Past 51 m, past a gas's oxygen limit, past the maximum oxygen exposure, or where your cylinders will not cover the plan, the app produces nothing at all and says why.

Why is minimum gas so much bigger than I expected?

It is the workbook rule, not a walk of the planned ascent: two divers on one supply, at the minimum ascent rate rather than the planned one, from the deepest point to the first decompression gas, with the stops included. A sharing team does not ascend at planned speed, and the figure is much larger than a straight-line estimate suggests.

What is a "wetnote" and why would I use it?

The plan laid out as a page to copy onto your wetnotes by hand — the stop schedule with the runtime you leave each level at, the pressures to check your gauge against, and the contingencies. It is the schedule you fly when the computer floods.

Does it work without a signal?

Always. The app has no network access at all, so a boat with no reception changes nothing.

Will it tell me a dive is safe?

No, and it never will. It does pre-dive arithmetic. Your training comes first, and in the water your dive computer owns the dive.
